Ocean Carving is coming to Oasis Aqualounge on Wednesday Feb 18th. Oasis Aqualounge is teaming up with Buddies in Bad Times theater and Eventual Ashes( www.eventualashes.com) to assist with this production for the Rhubarb festival.

Gein Wong is an interdisciplinary director, curator and video artist who creates large scale performances that are visual and emotional. She is the recipient of the 2014 Ken McDougall Director’s Award. Her performance installation, The Whisper Garden, opened the USA National Performance Network Annual Showcase in 2012 and the NYC Hemispheric Institute’s Encuentro Festival of the Americas. Most recently, she directed The Femme Playlist by Catherine Hernandez. She conceived and directed Stonewall 45 which commemorated the Stonewall Riots at World Pride 2014, as well she opened the Ai Weiwei exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario with a 500 person performance art piece Say Their Names, Remember. She has been an Artist in Residence at Canadian Stage, Harbourfront Centre, the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia and collaborated on a New York City HERE arts centre residency. She is Artistic Director of Eventual Ashes, the Asian Arts Freedom School, a Resident Artist and Curator at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and a Co-Owner of the Glad Day Bookshop, the world’s oldest LGBT bookstore.
The performance is happening in the outdoor heated pool, which will be available for Oasis guests to watch, free of charge. We want to let customers know that between 6:00pm-8:00pm, the pool will be closed. This area will require some set up and tear down in order to host the live feature. Showtime is at 7:00pm.
All other Oasis amenities will be available for use and the pool will be available after the scheduled performance. Oasis Aqualounge will be open from 11:00am-3:00am. Men/couples-$50, women-free
