AquaFlirts in August: Taste of the Danforth and Slutwalk
The Oasis AquaFlirts enjoyed a busy weekend, attending summer events on both Friday August 11th and Saturday August 12th.
The annual Taste of the Danforth festival brought out the AquaFlirts on Friday evening. Despite the rain, they were able to enjoy the street festivities, food and talking to various folks about the club and our fabulous facilities.
Armed with branded helium balloons and marketing material, the promotional team brought their sexy vibes and colorful personalities, showering the streets with playful energy that was no match for the rainy night!
On Saturday August 12th, the powerful and important march Slutwalk returned to the streets of Toronto. This transnational protest calls for an end to rape culture and stands in support with survivors of sexual violence. Oasis Aqualounge and the AquaFlirts stand behind the message that women should be free to express their sexuality, to dress (or undress) without fear of violence and to support one another without judgement when it comes to choices over their body, desires and identities.
The AquaFlirts gathered at Barbara Hall Park to make protest signs prior to the march and to connect with other sex-positive folks in attendance. The energy remained strong as hundreds rallied in solidarity against laws that continue to perpetuate violence against women. It was truly an empowering afternoon to remember.
