Around the World Burlesque

It was a star studded cast from Great Canadian Burlesque and guests this Saturday at the club.  Guests loved the “globetrotting” theme as the first show kicked off “the tour” with an epic performance by El Torro dressed as Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.  You have to get around the world somehow, so why not on a pirate ship? The “first stop” was in Egypt, with a provocative belly dance by the jewel of the Nile herself Mizzy Trasher. Next we had another belly dance by Gigi Vanilla to the song “Little Egypt” representing the popularity of belly dance in America in the late 1950’s.  After a brief “layover” we traveled to the red bar upstairs for the second midnight show.  Marilyn St.Evans started the set with a lively traditional Irish dance, this really got the attention of guests playing in the adjacent rooms. More and more people started to filter into the lounge just to see what all the commotion was about!  Next we landed in France where performer Esther De Ville sauntered onto the stage dressed in a beret, smoking a (fake) cigarette, clutching a baguette and a bottle of wine under her arm.  The last stop on the tour was Spain, where Fionna Flauntit dazzled the crowd with a flamenco inspired act complete with a light up head dress! Special thanks to our “jet legged” host Janus for taking us on a burlesque journey around the world in just one night.

Also a huge thank you goes out to all the sponsors, performers and attendees of Ladies Night Out on Sunday September 8. Oasis guests loved the fashion show by Rosie the Rebel/Loveless, illusionist Rob Testa, boylesquers James and the Ginat Pastie, El Torro and Willie Wonder and fire performer Eto.  We can’t wait to have the ladies from Hanky Panky Home Parties & Arbonne Spa Products back as well.  Good friends, fun & food (those chocolate covered strawberries and cookies were devoured), stay tuned for the next Ladies Night Out.

Burning Man Festival Tribute/Labour Day Long Weekend

Oasis kicked off the long weekend with a packed house for our 3rd annual Burning Man Festival Tribute event Saturday night. Canadian Burlesque Hall of Famer andSkin Tight Outta Sight Rebel Burlesque’s very own Tanya Cheex opened with a seductive performance to the song“I’ve Got a Spell on You.” Her larger than life flame-themed costume, complete with feathered head dress and closing finale fire tassel reveal proved why she’s know as the Canadian Fire Tassel Queen! The atmosphere really started to heat up when newcomer to Oasis, Scarlett Black began her incredible high energy fire hula hoop routine. Everyone in the audience was bopping along to the music and cheering her along. From the reaction from the crowd we’re sure we’ll be booking her to perform at Oasis again!

Both Sunday and Monday were very busy, many guests decided a “staycation” was the way to go and Oasis was the best place to do it! Poolside, upstairs and throughout the club people played, mingled, sunbathed, drank and relaxed…the perfect recipe for the perfect long weekend.

Gorgeous Geeks

The hype leading up too and during FanExpo last weekend was more than enough reason for Oasis to celebrate geeks, gamers and nerds alike. Our first ever “Gorgeous Geeks” event went off without a hitch, no doubt the special guests Nerd Girl Burlesque had something to do with it! Keneckie Street started the show with a bang, her comical (not pun intended) yet super sexy Harlequin act caught everyone’s attention. Headlining the event Loretta Jean’s Dr.Who tribute had the crowd cheering for more. Special thanks to Sci Feye Candy for coming out with their amazing selection of super hero themed bathing suits and congratulations to those who won for best dressed geeks!

The fun continued Saturday evening for our Maracas & Moochachos Fiesta Night. Jana made her famous guacamole which was quickly devoured by those nibbling on snacks at the bar. Later in the evening a good sized group filed into the dungeon for the pinata smashing festivities…you can’t have a fiesta without a pinata! Oddly enough the dungeon seemed like the safest place to hang it. Guests had a blast attempting to break it with the mini padded hockey sticks (again, safety first!). Once broken all sorts of candies and goodies, like a vibrating ring, penis pump (care of Dirty Bingo) and Great Canadian Tease Burlesque Brunch passes spilled onto the floor. Everyone had a good laugh and some guests stayed and played in the dungeon while others ventured to the top floor to see what kind of naughty things they could get into…
